A little project I've been working on

I read an article on car photography recently and it's something I've never tried, other than using  natural daylight to photograph cars at shows and events. Being a Morgan enthusiast I thought it would make a suitable subject to experiment with strobe/flash lighting as the curving lines of the wings and wheel arches would pickup light nicely when lit from above. Now this kind of shot would usually involve multiple lights hung above the car, with grids attached to control and minimise the light spill to the sides. Additional side lights would be used to pick out the wheels and provide additional illumination. I don't have the ability to hang lights above a subject and completely cover something of this size with light (I can light a person from above, but not a whole car). So the result above is actually from a sequence of individual shots merged together to form one single composite image. How to do it ? Well there are multiple steps involved and that's worthy of a blog post in its own right, so I'll put something else together to explain how it was done with some of the intermediate images as illustrations. For a first effort I'm pleased with the results. The only question I have is whether I should have put a strobe inside the car to illuminate the cabin. I might re-shoot it with a strobe inside for a comparison.
