I just like this shot
It's not often I shoot with my 70-300mm lens. Using a 'zoom' lens is perfect for portraits because you can easily crop in and out and get the shot you want without having to move your feet. Additionally a lens that allows you to stand a long way back from the subject has the additional benefit of flattening perspective which can often be a more flattering look in a portrait. My particular 300mm zoom lens works best in very bright lighting conditions and this afternoon we got great spell of late afternoon spring sunshine. We've been trying to introduce our daughter to the concept of grass over the last few weeks so it was another opportunity to have her outside on the lawn. I'm not going to post pictures of her crawling on the grass however as she's still a little unsure about the texture of grass. Certainly I can't get a shot of her crawling and smiling at the same time at the moment. The shot below was when she was more 'upright' - it's technically not a great shot as the light is very bright with harsh contrasts but this afternoon was all about recording memories and not technically perfect photographs. At the end of the day - I just like it.
