Corporate Portrait Challenge
A friend of mine is a partner in a strategic advisory firm and has recently launched a new website. The senior team have their photos on the website although only 2 out of the 3 images really matched in terms of style, so he asked me if I could shoot a new corporate portrait for him. The challenge however was not just to take a good corporate mugshot in the studio, but to ensure that the final image matched the style of the existing 2 images on the website. Luckily all the images needed to have a white background and so the studio here was fine for the shoot. However, the lighting of the subject needed to match the lighting in the other images and the white background needed to be lit uniformly and as close to the other images as possible, with no shadows behind the subject. It took a bit of trial and error, with constant reference back to the website images we were trying to match the result with. Following one or two changes of configuration of the lightning, we finally settled on a single studio light with a softbox positioned to the right of the subject, with my Nikon Speedlight on the floor behind the subject to illuminate the background sufficiently. Once the lighting was finalized all we had to do was get the pose and the composition correct to get our final image. The result below needed very little work in post processing - all I've done is slightly boost the tones and added a vignette for effect.
